The Douglas County Medical Reserve Corps seeks volunteers from all fields willing to help in a public health emergency situation. Volunteers serve during nonemergency times as educators on healthy living issues and activate in response to public health emergencies and community disasters. Immediate needs
¢ Headquarters Counseling Center will begin holding informational meetings for its upcoming spring training session from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Community Mercantile, 901 Iowa. Prospective volunteers should attend the informational meeting to learn more about the training and responsibilities of a Headquarters counselor. ¢ Ballard Community Center seeks a volunteer to assist with food pantry coordination and organization during February and March. He or she will work two hours weekly, at a time convenient for the volunteer and agency, to organize food donations for distribution to community members in need. The volunteer must be physically able to do the bending, carrying, and light lifting associated with the position. ¢ The ICAN Friendly Visitors program seeks volunteers to donate freshly baked pies or loan quilts for display at the ninth annual Pie Sale and Quilt Show next month to benefit the program.
