From the Lawrence Daily World for Jan. 15, 1906: “The World Company finished the publication Saturday of the Bell Telephone book for the coming quarter of the year and deliveries have begun. The book has more subscribers than ever and the telephone seems to be making a bigger impact on our lives all the time. : Some in Congress want to pass laws for government control of insurance firms despite the fact insurance people say they are dedicated to fairness, honesty and new reforms. : Mabel Heaston, 11, is one of the leading candidates for the piano to be given away by the World and word is she is such a good musician she has a good chance to win. She is one of the youngest candidates on record in the contest.”
