York, Neb. ? Falling to a big halftime deficit, Haskell Indian Nations University couldn’t recover and lost, 59-48, to York on Saturday in women’s college basketball.

Samantha Pete led three Fightin’ Indians in double figures with 12 points. Amber Tecumseh scored 11, and Lucita Yesslith had 10 points, six rebounds and three steals.

“We played an uphill battle,” said Haskell coach Phil Homeratha, whose squad trailed, 31-19, at halftime. “We had a really good spurt in the second half to keep with them.”

Haskell (6-6) will travel Tuesday to Peru (Neb.) State.
