Scouts from Troop 65, chartered to the Baldwin Rotary Club, recently visited the Kansas Cosmosphere in Hutchinson.

Eleven Scouts, accompanied by six adults, spent the night at the Kansas State Fairgrounds and took part in the Cosmosphere Scout Program with troops from Wichita; Goddard; Odessa, Mo.; and Independence, Mo. Events included a visit to Dr. Goddard’s Lab, exhibits of German, American and Russian space artifacts, and an IMAX movie about the International Space Station.

From Nov. 18 to Nov. 20, Scouts from the troop camped at Moon Lake and visited Fort Riley, where they spent time inside a simulator for the M1A1 Abrams Main Battle Tank and viewed helicopters.

In October, Scouts camped at the Baldwin Scout Cabin and then honed their survival skills at private property owned by the Counts family. While there, they erected a sign commemorating the family for allowing them to use their land.

From Sept. 23 to Sept. 25, the Scouts had a fishing campout at Faulkner Lake on the southwestern edge of Baldwin.

The next campout will be the Trapper’s Rendezvous on Jan. 20-22 in Halstead.
