Temperatures rebounding into 50s
Temperatures are expected to soar up to spring-like conditions later today. But freezing temperatures chilled off Lawrence overnight.
“You may want that ice scraper. We do have a frosty start to the day,” said Matt Sayers, 6News meteorologist.
At 8:15 a.m., the temperature had climbed to 33 degrees, the humidity was 78 percent and winds were from the south at 9 mph, making the windchill 25 degrees. The average high for this date is 39 degrees and the average low is 20 degrees.
“Yesterday’s cool-down was very short,” Sayers said. “It will be a warmer today. Clouds will not be as thick as they were yesterday.”
Sayers said today’s high will be 54 degrees and winds will be from the south-southwest at 10 to 15 mph. Clouds will thin out through the afternoon and evening, he said.
Overnight, the temperature will fall to 32 degrees by early Thursday morning. Thursday’s high will be be 55 degrees, with winds out of the southwest, shifting to northwest at 8 to 12 mph.
Friday’s morning low will be 28 degrees, rising to 48 degrees by Friday afternoon.
