Subdivision approved southeast of Lawrence

A final plan for a two-lot subdivision southeast of Lawrence was approved by the Douglas County Commission on Monday.

The plan calls for creating two lots from one parcel for development of an additional residence. The land covers 8.5 acres on the east side of East 1500 Road and north of North 1000 Road.

The property is owned by M. Delores Clarridge. It is three miles outside Lawrence city limits but within the city's urban growth area. Water meters are in place.

The county set conditions that include requiring a water supply agreement between the developer and the Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department and the completion of a septic system site evaluation.

In another matter, Commissioners Charles Jones and Jere McElhaney elected Commissioner Bob Johnson to be the commission chairman for 2006.

And then there is the idea of building a new Urban (condensed) area off Wakarusa & 6th Street - that should make traffic to KC more interesting for 23rd street and K-10. We've got some real genius' at work here.

They've been getting the carts before the horses for about 15 years now. Where are the new residents going to work at a job that pays real money and benefits?

I say build I-70 connectors off K10 and let the fees pay for the road. JOCO,Leavenworth and Douglas Counties could pay for bridges.
