Connie Ingle, Lawrence, has been elected District III vice president of the American Business Women’s Assn.

Ingle belongs to the ABWA’s Twilight Chapter and the Lawrence Express Network. As District III vice president, she will be part of the 2005-2006 ABWA board of directors. Its members also serve as trustees of the Stephen Bufton Memorial Education Fund, which has given more than $14 million in scholarships to women since its inception.

Ingle is a former ABWA vice president and Woman of the Year. Ingle is deputy county clerk of elections for Douglas County.

¢ The Kansas Highway Patrol promoted Keith Hudson to lieutenant and assigned him as a zone supervisor for the Lawrence and Ottawa areas. He joined the patrol in 1996 as a trooper, performing road patrol duties in the Ottawa area, and was promoted to master trooper in 2003. Hudson has been a recruit class coach, field training officer and radar instructor. Before joining the patrol, Hudson was a deputy for the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

Casey Simoneau has been assigned as a trooper to Douglas County. He recently completed a 22-week basic law enforcement course at the patrol’s Training Academy in Salina. Simoneau has begun his field duties under the supervision of Trooper Joshua Kellerman.

¢ Kimberly Henderson, a hearing instrument specialist for the Hearing Aid Center, received her credentials to practice fitting and dispensing hearing aids in Kansas. Henderson, who has hearing loss herself, previously was employed by the center as office manager.

¢ Oscar Cole III, of Lawrence, recently joined Realty Executives – Hedges Real Estate, 1037 Vt. Cole owned C&H Moving in Lawrence before becoming a Realtor.

¢ Joe Roberts has joined Aquila in Lawrence as a natural gas appliance service technician, responsible for natural gas service orders, leak responses and the installation and servicing of furnaces, air conditioners, water heaters, washers, dryers, ranges and refrigerators. Roberts previously was an appliance serviceman for Factory Direct Appliance, and has 27 years of experience in the trade.

¢ Chuck Hoag, Aquila operations manager in Lawrence, was recognized by the company for 20 years of service. He joined the company in 1985 in Lawrence as a member of the construction crew. As operations manager, he is responsible for operation and maintenance of the gas distribution system in the Lawrence area.

Honors and awards

Linda Pullen and Sheryl Fields were named Employees of the Month for November and December, respectively, by Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging Inc. They are case managers who provide assessments and coordinate services for senior clients.

¢ Linda Kiernan, beauty adviser and sales representative for Avon, was presented with the Honor Society Award at the annual winter/holiday meeting. The award requires sales in excess of $20,000. Kiernan has been with Avon for 10 years and sells in the Lawrence.

¢ Jackson Hewitt franchise owners Jerel and Elizabeth Crist are the recipients of the Internal Revenue Service 2005 Exemplary Electronic Return Originator Award. They received the award for outstanding performance in using the IRS e-file program. The Crists own and operate nearly 30 Jackson Hewitt offices, including two in Lawrence.

Coming events

Susan NeuPoth Cadoret, of the Kansas Department of Commerce, will present “Kansas Business Development Incentives” from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Jan. 19 at the Lawrence Workforce Center, 2540 Iowa, Suite R.

¢ A Free State Bridal Show will be from noon to 4 p.m. Feb. 4 at Maceli’s, 1031 N.H. Organizers are seeking interested vendors to participate. There is a small fee, which will help cover the advertising costs, to participate. The event is free for attendees.
