‘Wilt’ show wins international award
During Wilt Chamberlain’s dominant basketball career at Kansas University, Maurice King was a teammate, Max Falkenstein a play-by-play man, Jerry Waugh an assistant coach, and Bill Mayer a sports columnist.
The four of them were so compelling discussing their times in Lawrence with Chamberlain on and off the court that the River City Weekly episode entitled “Wilt” received the Communicator Award of Distinction, an international competition that recognizes outstanding work in the communication field.
Free State Studios producers Brian Powell and Greg Hurd won the award. River City Weekly airs on Sunflower Broadband Channel 6, and the episode will be re-aired soon.
