Sunny afternoon ahead

Don’t let this morning’s gloomy gray skies get you down – sunny skies will brighten up Lawrence this afternoon, says Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

“I think we’ll have the clouds around through the morning, but by the midday, they’ll start to break up,” Schack said. “I think it will be a pleasant Friday afternoon and a pleasant weekend.”

At 8:30 a.m., the temperature in Lawrence was 31 degrees, the humidity was 78 percent and winds were calm.

Temperatures will climb into the 40s by the middle of the day, then up to 49 degrees by the afternoon as the sunshine returns, Schack said. Winds will be from the southwest at 6 to 10 mph.

Overnight, the temperature will drop to 29 degrees by early Saturday morning. Then the warm-up begins.

Saturday’s temperature will climb to a high of 63 by the afternoon, she said.

“It looks like a great Saturday,” Schack said.

Sunday’s morning low will be 33 degrees. Sunday’s afternoon high will be 53 degrees, with mostly sunny skies.
