Cheney visits Fort Leavenworth

? Vice President Dick Cheney in his visit here Friday reiterated his call for renewal of the Patriot Act and again affirmed the U.S. would win the war on terror.

Cheney made a brief stop at the fort, the oldest army outpost west of the Mississippi. In a 20-minute speech to troops, he sounded familiar themes, talking about the Sept. 11 attack, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and the political climate at home.

“The war on terror is a battle for the future of civilization,” Cheney told the soldiers. “It is a battle worth fighting. And it is a battle we are going to win.”

Earlier in the day Cheney visited a Harley-Davidson factory in Kansas City, Mo.
