Two people were arrested Thursday for the robbery earlier this week of a North Lawrence convenience store.

One of the suspects, Joni Marie Ridinger, 18, Lawrence, is a former employee of the Presto Convenience Store, 1030 North Third St., Lawrence Police Spokesman Sgt. Dan Ward said.

Police also arrested a 16-year-old boy, whose name wasn't released. Police have identified three other suspects - two men and a woman - and more arrests are expected, Ward said.

The robbery occurred at Presto about 3:30 a.m. Monday when five people wearing bandanas over their faces entered Presto and took cash and cigarettes. One of the suspects held a woman clerk on the floor during the looting, police said.

Formal charges were pending Friday, but Ridinger was booked into the Douglas County Jail on suspicion of aggravated robbery and conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery. No details about the arrests were released.

Don't 16 year olds have better things to do....like playing grand theft auto: san andreas instead of robbing convenience stores? ;o)

why pretend to be doing it when they can actually be doing it?

The woman who was robbed is my sister. She has 2 little kids and we are so grateful that she was not seriously injured or killed by this. I dont think she will feel safe again for a long time if ever. I hope they throw the book at these people. It makes me sick to think what could have happened.

redjayj-Sorry that it happened to you. My point exactly, what is a 16 year old doing robbing convenience stores? The owner of that store/your sister(?) happen to work hard to make ends meet and make a profit....it's a shame to see such hard work go to waste with stupid robberies. Hope all is well.
