Temperatures soaring to near 70

Warm weather expected through Wednesday

Say goodbye to freezing weather for a while — temperatures are taking a spring-like turn this week.

“We’re heading up to around 70 today and into the 70s tomorrow,” said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist

At 1:35 p.m., the temperature at Lawrence Municipal Airport was 65 degrees, the humidity was 39 percent and winds were from the southwest at 12 mph.

Today’s morning low temperature was 32 degrees. The average low for this date is 30 degrees. The record low was minus 15 in 1934.

The average high temperature for this date is 50 degrees. The record high was 78 degrees, set in 1932.

Today’s high will reach 69 degrees, with winds 10 to 18 mph from the southwest and high clouds to filter the sunshine, Schack said.

Tonight the low will drop to 40 degrees by early Tuesday morning, with mostly clear skies, she said.

Tuesday’s high will climb to 74 degrees, with mostly sunny skies, she said.

Wednesday’s morning low will be 50 degrees, with Wednesday’s high climbing to 75 degrees. Skies will be partly cloudy.
