Burlingame — Seabury Academy's momentum from Tuesday's regional victory came to a screeching halt Friday when the Seahawks fell to White City, 53-16, in the second round of the Class 1A regionals.
White City more than tripled Seabury's first-quarter score and never looked back from that 13-4 lead.
"It was obviously a game where we kind of were overmatched," Seabury coach Nick Taylor said. "We ran up against a team that has played very well and played strong. We just came out and didn't execute very well. We just turned the ball over early, and from there, they just kind of took it over."
Senior Lindsey Ahlen led Seabury (7-13) with eight points.
"I hate for our seniors to go out that way, but it's one of those things that just happened, and we have to live with it," Taylor said.
