The city decided to settle out of court with a contractor who had filed a claim against the city 18 months earlier for expenses that exceeded the contract amount for construction of the Clinton Water Treatment Plant. The city commission approved payment of $142,389 to Sharp Brothers Contracting of Kansas City, Mo.

The Kansas Senate’s budget writing panel reduced proposed faculty salary increases at Kansas University in a flurry of funding cuts totaling about $5 million for all Kansas Board of Regents schools.
