From the Lawrence Daily World for Feb. 25, 1906: “The Kansas Democratic Central Committee has called a convention for 691 delegates. It is doubted whether there are that many Democrats left in Kansas. : Several drunks have been found to be carrying guns lately and fortunately they have not been used. But gun-toting is far too promiscuous in Lawrence and many tend to flash their guns when in disputes. : It appears now there will be no coal strike, which had many concerned about the impact on the nation and its economy.”
