Old Home Town – 100 years ago
From the Lawrence Daily World for Feb. 24, 1906: “Local youngsters who have been dancing altogether too much will soon have a chance to rest. Lent is not so very far away. : Dr. Snow of the university is an accepted authority on the fact the groundhog and woodchuck are one and the same. But even Dr. Snow has not ventured to assert the groundhog is an infallible weather instrument. : Many from Lawrence will go to Kansas City to see the famous Sarah Bernhardt in ‘Camille’ at Convention Hall.”
