Key Plays

1st Quarter

West’s Marcus Spates opened up a 7-2 run to begin the game. Jake Miller sunk an early three pointer, and the Warhawks ended the quarter firing on all cylinders, leading by seven points.

2nd Quarter

Aquinas began to find their shot from the perimeter sinking two huge threes to get back in the game. West used their home-court advantage to get fired up and on the rebounding of Chase Hoag and Preston Randolph work the defensive glass to create offensive opportunities and gain the biggest lead of the game at 10 points. Aquinas closed the gap before half and seemed to take some air out of West’s sails.

3rd Quarter

After the break Aquinas opened up a 8-1 run to give them the lead, which they would maintain for the rest of the game. West managed to keep it within a point by sinking the ball from the charity stripe.

4th Quarter

West kept it within four points at the start of the final period, but when Grahm Saunders and Jake Miller fouled out Aquinas took advantage. Aquinas sank 12-17 free throws and pushed their eventual game winning lead to nine points. With the win Aquinas advanced to the championship round and West dropped to the third-place game.
