Temperatures on the rise today
Warming trend continues through week
If you were shivering this morning, just wait – temperatures are on the way up this afternoon, says Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.
“We did bottom out at 14 and now we’re starting to climb for the morning,” Schack said. “We’re heading up toward 50 degrees. The warming trend continues. We have plenty of sunshine in the forecast today.”
At 12:10 p.m., Lawrence’s temperature was 43 degrees, the humidity was 42 percent and winds were from the south at 5 mph, making the windchill 40 degrees. This morning’s low temperature was 14 degrees. The average low temperature for this date is 28 degrees. The record low temperature was minus 2, set in 1939.
Today’s high temperature will climb to 40 degrees by noon and up to 50 degrees by late afternoon, Schack said.
“We’ll top out just above average today,” she said. The average high temperature for this date is 48 degrees. The record high temperature was 78 degrees, set in 1935.
Tonight’s temperature will fall off to 22 degrees by early Wednesday morning, with light and variable winds and some clouds, she said.
Wednesday’s high temperature will reach 54 degrees, with west-northwest winds at 5 to 10 mph and sunny skies, she said.
Thursday’s morning low temperature will be 30 degrees. Thursday’s afternoon high will climb to 52, with mostly sunny skies, she said.
