Santa Fe Trail banks on defense
CARBONDALE ? Santa Fe Trail’s defense was the difference Friday night in a 58-49 high school boys basketball victory over Perry-Lecompton.
The Chargers (9-9) picked up the intensity at halftime to build on its slim two-point advantage.
Jake Carter scored 18, and Curtis Musgrave added 13 in the victory.

Wellsville – With the game tied, Thatcher Starling grabbed an offensive rebound and put in the game-deciding two with four seconds remaining as Wellsville escaped with the win. The Eagles (12-6) trailed by three entering the fourth quarter, but outscored Heights 19-14 in the final frame. Starling and Colin Wright scored 11 apiece for Wellsville.
