From the Lawrence Daily World for Feb. 17, 1906: “A Baldwin man is advertising for live skunks. He will pay 50 cents apiece for them and ask no questions as to how you got them. : Now that the Second District Congress race has a primary election, it will be interesting to see if the tried and true politicians suffer from overconfidence. : Alice Roosevelt, daughter of the president (Theodore), was married to Rep. Nicholas Longworth in the East Room of the White House in one of the most elaborate wedding ceremonies ever held. : The Manhattan Commercial Club is now awarding prizes to areas that provide the best roads and that might be a project that would be of benefit here.”
