From the Lawrence Daily World for Feb. 15, 1906: “A motion for a new trial in the cases of Phil Hervey and Perry Allbritton, two of the jointists convicted in district court, were taken up by Judge Smart this morning and the motion was overruled and sentence was pronounced. : The men who own and manage the Lawrence gas company have decided to spend $40,000 this year in making extensions and improvements and the work is to begin immediately. It will make the Lawrence gas plant one of the best if not the best in Kansas. There will be much work for laboring men.”
