FCE and 4-H news

¢Kanwaka Family and Community Education unit will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Aliene Bieber. Reba Bennett will give the lesson "My Pyramid ... Steps To a Healthier You."

¢The Vinland Valley 4-H Club met Feb. 6 at Vinland Methodist Church. Casey George Jr., president, called the meeting to order.

Members answered roll call by naming their favorite season. Misty Emory gave the current event. Braxton Nottingham gave the treasurer's report. Sandy Stone gave a leader's report. Cheryl Hunsinger talked about record books.

Members were asked to help at a concession stand in March at the Capital City Rabbit Show. Dale and Kelly Baker gave a presentation on how to make chocolate chip cookies. Members made Valentine's Day cards for veterans.

The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. March 6 at the church. The program will be given by members enrolled in the citizenship, leadership and aerospace projects. Members also will be collecting food items.

¢The Four Leaf Clover 4-H Club met Jan. 9 in Building 1 at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds. Jessica Gibler presided during the meeting. Weston Allen and Jen Livingood talked about the county council meeting. Patrick Pottorf quizzed members about parliamentary procedure.

Several members participated in County Club Days on Feb. 4 at West Junior High School. The county 4-H Food Fare will be Feb. 18, and registration is due Tuesday at the Extension office.

Hosts were the Carttar and Thomas families.

The next meeting will be at 7:15 p.m. Monday in Building 1 at the fairgrounds.
