¢ Magnuson Hole-in-One: Jerry Magnuson of Lawrence used an 8-iron to ace a 135-yard hole last week at Shadow Ridge GC in Palm Desert, Calif. Witnesses were Janet Magnuson, Gary Leonardi and Celeste Leonardi, all of Lawrence. Magnuson’s son, Eric Magnuson, is assistant pro at the course.
¢ Kane Enshrined: Jim Kane, golf pro at Eagle Bend GC, was inducted into the Oral Roberts University Hall of Fame last weekend. Kane was a four-time All-American golfer at ORU from 1978-81.
¢ Mat Golds: Andy Jones and Spenser Chestnut of Lawrence Coyotes Wrestling Club captured gold medals last weekend in the open division of the Shawnee Heights Tournament. Gold medalists in the novice portion were Dusty Morris, Aaron Rosenstengle, Kyle Osinski, J.J. Abernathy, Trevor Fransier, Dakota Holcomb and Jeremy Finnestad. Four Coyotes won gold medals at the De Soto Novice Tournament. They were Dusty Morris, Collin McKee, Amanda Morris and Riley Buller.
¢ Abel Hole-in-One: Chris Abel of Eudora used a pitching wedge to ace the 153-yard No. 16 hole at Falcon Ridge Golf Course in Lenexa. Bob Krug witnessed the hole-in-one.
¢ City Softball, Basketball: Organizational meetings for city adult spring basketball and spring-summer softball are scheduled next week. The basketball session will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Community Building. The softball meeting will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Holcom Park Rec Center.
