Detectives with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the death of an 85-year-old woman found by a relative inside her home.

Deputies were called around 11 a.m. today to the house at 1241 N. 1300 Rd, just west of 31st and Iowa street.

Initial reports said the woman drowned in her bathtub.

The house was quickly cordoned off with yellow crime scene tape.

More than a half dozen sheriff’s patrol cars were parked in the front yard, and detectives were photographing the scene.

Undersheriff Steve Hornberger said the case was being investigated as an unattended death, and he expected they would be on the scene into the afternoon.
