Hot-shooting Baylor blows out Mizzou

? Curtis Jerrells took advantage of his opportunities. And that led to another Baylor victory.

The freshman guard scored a career-high 28, hitting five of six three-pointers, to lead Baylor to a 90-64 victory Tuesday over Missouri.

“When you knock down a few of them, you get confident,” said Jerrells, who went 11-of-14 from the field. “Once you see another opportunity, you just take it.”

Kevin Rogers added 13 points for the Bears, while Tommy Swanson scored 10 to give Baylor (2-7 overall, 2-7 Big 12 Conference) its second straight home victory. The back-to-back Big 12 home victories were the first for the Bears since 2002 when they defeated Texas A&M, 97-45, on Feb. 3 and Missouri, 81-80, on Feb. 9.

“We have some explosive players on the offensive end,” Baylor coach Scott Drew said. “It was just a matter of time for Curtis Jerrells to have a breakout game. You could see it snowball once it got going.”

Thomas Gardner led Missouri (10-11, 3-7) with 25 points, while Jimmy McKinney contributed 13. The Tigers suffered their sixth straight loss.

“With a game like today, you feel that life has just ended,” Missouri coach Quin Snyder said. “But there’s more games left to play. I’ve got to figure out how to make my kids get better.”
