Officer to discuss mental health teams
Kyle Shipps, a representative of the Prairie Village Police Department, will address a Wednesday meeting of the Douglas County chapter of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill in Room 202 at Plymouth Congregational Church, 925 Vt.
The meeting begins at 6:45 p.m. and is expected to last about an hour.
Shipps is expected to discuss his department’s move to Crisis Intervention Teams.
The teams use mental-health professionals, trained law enforcement officers and other community members to respond to mental health crises and facilitate access to treatment.
