Ted Owens’ Kansas basketball team defeated Missouri 77-54 at Columbia to run its season record to 15-3 and further stake its claim on a Big Eight championship. The losses had been to UCLA, USC and Nebraska at Lincoln. The high-powered Jayhawks were considered by some an NCAA title favorite. The starters were Walt Wesley, Al Lopes, Ron Franz, Jo Jo White and Delvy Lewis.
