Knicks gain, then fall
New York loses to Toronto, gets Rose
Toronto ? Even though the New York Knicks lost again, Larry Brown thinks they gained something Friday night.
Chris Bosh scored 29 points, and the Toronto Raptors beat the struggling Knicks, 104-90, on Friday night – hours after the teams completed a trade.
Before the game, Toronto sent Jalen Rose to New York for Antonio Davis, a first-round draft pick and cash.
Rose and Davis did not play – Brown thought it would be unfair to throw Rose into action immediately. Rose sat on New York’s bench wearing a suit.
Brown said Rose would fill a need at small forward, a weakness for the Knicks all season.
“We tried, but we just we have some deficiencies that hopefully Jalen will help alleviate,” Brown said. “I think he’ll take a lot of pressure off the perimeter people and make the big guys bigger.”

New York knicks guard Quentin Richardson, right, sits with new teammate Jalen Rose during the first half of New York's game with Toronto. Rose was traded from the Raptors to the Knicks just before Friday's game in Toronto.
The Knicks also could have used Stephon Marbury, who missed the game due to a sore shoulder. Quentin Richardson also missed the second half.
Eddy Curry scored 17 points for the Knicks, who have lost four straight and 10 of 11.
Pistons 87, 76ers 80
Philadelphia – Richard Hamilton scored 30 points, Rasheed Wallace added 20, and Detroit held on to beat feisty, short-handed Philadelphia.
The 76ers played without Allen Iverson, who missed his fourth straight game because of injured ankles.
Hawks 96, Magic 94
Atlanta – Joe Johnson hit a jumper over DeShawn Stevenson with less than a second remaining to lift Atlanta.
Clippers 98, Celtics 81
Boston – Elton Brand and Sam Cassell keyed a late run that broke open a close game, leading Los Angeles.
Bobcats 112, Lakers 102
Charlotte, N.C. – Jumaine Jones scored 31 points to help Charlotte snap its franchise-record, 13-game losing streak.
Rockets 100, Sonics 77
Houston – Tracy McGrady scored 36 points to lead Houston.
Jazz 89, Kings 79
Salt Lake City – Sacramento went 0-for-20 from the field and was outscored 34-12 in the fourth quarter, allowing Utah to rally.
