Medicare may deduct twice this month

Social Security recipients who have signed up for Medicare Part D and whose premiums are to be deducted from their monthly checks may have two deductions in their February checks.

The double deductions affect those who signed up at the end of last year for prescription drug coverage starting Jan. 1. The double deduction covers the Part D premiums for January and February.

Most people receive Social Security checks on the third of each month.

Kansas residents who have questions about the Part D coverage or other Medicare or insurance issues may call the Senior Health Insurance Counseling for Kansas hot line, (800) 860-5260, for free, confidential and unbiased assistance from trained volunteers.
