Decision on abortion records case due Friday

? Atty. Gen. Phill Kline should learn Friday how much access he’ll have to patient records from two abortion clinics in attempting to prosecute both the clinics and suspected cases of child rape.

The Kansas Supreme Court plans to issue a ruling at 9:30 a.m. in a dispute between Kline and clinics operated by Dr. George Tiller in Wichita and Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri in Overland Park. The case involves the records of 90 women and girls.

Kline’s chief deputy told the Supreme Court in September that the attorney general believes the 90 records contain evidence of multiple felonies and misdemeanors by the clinics and would help him build cases against sex offenders. The clinics have accused Kline of conducting a fishing expedition.
