Drought dooms Veritas girls, 50-36

? Kristie Tiegreen had 16 points and 18 rebounds, but Veritas Christian was held scoreless in the second quarter of a 50-36 high school girls basketball loss to Worth County on Thursday in the West Nodaway Holiday Tournament.

“We went on a cold spell in the second quarter,” Veritas coach Kevin Shelton said. “That really did us in. It was a pretty even game except for that one spell where we could not make a basket. We really played well other than that. Our effort was really strong in the second half. Caroline Mayhew has really played well in these two games, especially on the defensive end.”

Veritas (2-4) will play at 10 a.m. today against Craig.
