Boy Scout Troop 55, chartered to the Westside Presbyterian Church, conducted its fall Court of Honor on Oct. 2 at the Hidden Valley Camp.

The following Scouts received a total of 109 merit badges and 27 rank advancements. Scouts earning merit badges include Bryce Baringer, Jamie Braden, Andrew Carttar, Austin Down, Ian Gent, Joshua Gore, Newt Heston, Steven Howe, Ludwig Johanning, Ulrich Johanning, Griffin Kimmel, David Lawrence, Mitch McCune, Christopher Muetz, Kjell Mullenix, James Murphy, Steve Norris, Alan O’Neal, Colin O’Neal, Ted Olson, Wyatt Patterson, Jacob Pfeifer, Isaac Remboldt, Isaac Rinke, Johnathan Roberts, Grady Walker, J.D. Williams, Spencer Wilson, and Jeremy Woodhead.

On Oct. 13-15 22 Scouts attended the Pelathe District Fall Camporee. They competed against other troops in the district in events such as fire building, information gathering, knots and lashes, orienteering, first aid, quiet observation and movement, trust event and team building. The troop had two patrols participating in the events. The patrol leaders Jacob Pfeifer and Jeremy Woodhead were assisted by senior scouts Bryce Barringer, Drew Braden, Kevin Cottrell, and Josh Gore. The troop won first place in firebuilding, third place in firebuilding, first place in information gathering, third place in orienteering, and best adult leader meal.

Williams, Josh Gore, Johnathan Roberts, Jamie Braden, Tyler Hanson, Ian Gent, Griffen Kimmel, Drew Braden, Mitch McCune, Austen Down, Alan O’Neil, Newt Heston, Chris Meutz, Isaac Rembolt, Steven Howe, Spencer Wilson, Kevin Cottrell, Bryce Barringer, Kjell Mullenix, Jeremy Woodhead, Wyatt Patterson and Jacob Pfeifer. They were accompanied by adult leaders Scott Braden, Mike Howe and Stephen Roberts.

Boy Scout Troop 65, Baldwin City, took its first fall campout Oct. 13-15 at the Pelathe District fall camporee, Mafeking II, at the Scouts’ Bromelsick Campground at Clinton Lake. The troop brought home these awards: team building, first and second; silent march, first and second; first aid, second and third; orienteering, first; ladder building, first; silent information-gathering, second; and trust event, first.

Scouts who attained positions during troop elections on Sept. 11 included Cameron Scruggs, senior patrol leader; Evan Wilson, senior assistant senior patrol leader; Brandon Baltzell, junior assistant senior patrol leader; David Cook, senior quartermaster; Josh Hoffman, junior quartermaster; Trey Anderson, scribe; Andrew Morgan, librarian; Sam Richards, chaplain’s aide; Colby Soden, troop historian one; Patrick Dietz, troop historian two; Justin Cook, troop guide; Logan Keener, den chief; Kenton Shuck, junior assistant scoutmaster; Darren Gratts, Order of the Arrow troop adviser; and Alex Coffey, Order of the Arrow troop representative. Patrol leaders elected were Matt Davis, Lancers; Brian Jones, Thundering Buffalos; Thomas Bollig, Badgers; Keenan Coffey, Penguins; Callan Anderson, Squirrels; and Austin Kraus, Flaming Arrows.
