University Bridge Club conducted its annual Christmas Bridge party Dec. 13 at the Lawrence Country Club. Hosts were Ray and Myrna Ikenberry with Mary Kanous.

Blue winners were Janet Dunn, first; Walt Hicks, second; Alice Akin, third; Harold Riehm, fourth; Hank Miller, fifth; Al Smith, sixth; Bebe Huxtable, seventh; and John Golden, eighth.

Pink winners were Florence McNicoll, first; Ruth Harwood, second; Wanda Kring, third; Aileen Bocqueen, fourth; Carolyn Harden, fifth; Mary Gaumer, sixth; Gladys Dight, seventh; and Isabelle Schaake, eighth.

The Daughters of the American Revolution, Betty Washington Chapter, conducted a meeting Dec. 16 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. The first program was given by Tom Tucker and Bob Slaper, who spoke about the memorial statue of Chief Paschal Fish, and the 150th anniversary of Eudora. The second program was given by Shari Johnson of the DAR concerning her experience at the NSDAR Genealogy Workshop in October. Officers and committees presented reports.

The next meeting will be Jan. 20 at LMH, and the program will be by Carol Hester on the history of chocolate.

The Wednesday Afternoon Bridge Club played a stratified Mitchell movement at eight and a half tables directed by Virginia Seaver on Dec. 13. Madelyn Jenks and Virginia Seaver won first in A playing North-South, followed by Grant Sutton and Harry Shaffer who won second in A and first in B. Sally Taylor and Eldon Herd won third in A and second in B. Virginia Eddy and Phyllis Brownlee won first in C.

Dave Piro and Paul Heitzman led the East-West teams winning first in A. Klee Zaricky and Betty Collier won second in A and first in B and C, followed by Shari Krentzel and Judy Bevan who won third in A and second in B and C. Marge Hitchcock and Ginny Johnston won third in B and C.

The Friday Afternoon Bridge Club played a stratified Mitchell movement at seven tables directed by Don Brennaman on Dec. 15. At North-South, Shirley Reese and Chris Lane won first in A. Second in A was won by Lynn Hui and Harry Shaffer, and Fiona Rochelle and Gladys Rivard won third in A and first in B.

Virginia Seaver and Klee Zaricky led the East-West pairs, winning first in A. Paul Heitzman and Dave Piro won second in A. Polly Schoning and Don Brennaman won first in B and third in A.

The Sunday Afternoon Bridge Club played a Unit Championship pairs game on Dec. 17. Six tables played a stratified Howell movement directed by Chris Lane. Clyde Romer and Kent McCullough won first in A, and Dianne Childs and Polly Schoning won second in A and first in B. Virginia Seaver and Shirley George won third in A. Dorothy Netson and Jim Stewart won first in C and second in B.

The Monday Evening Bridge Club played a stratified Mitchell movement at eight and a half tables on Dec. 18. Clyde Romer and Kent McCullough won first in A playing North-South, and Donna Johnson and James Masilamani won second. Shirley George of Austin, Texas, and Jeff Nash won third in A. Terry Tolar and Harry Shaffer won first in B, followed by Madelyn Jenks and Phyllis Brownlee who won second in B and first in C.

Virginia Seaver and Paul Heitzman won first in A playing East-West, followed by Lynn Hui and Jeane Landry who won second in A.

Dorothy Netson and Barbara Merriam won third in A and first in B and C. Don Daugherty and Harry Talley placed second in B and C. Eldon Herd and Emily Foster won third in B.
