A South Junior High ninth-grader underwent surgery for the removal of his spleen after what his father and a local school bus driver termed an incident of “silly horseplay.” The boy had been running and somebody had opened a door quickly and violently, causing the injury. Officials said it was apparently “a joke that had gone bad, very bad.”
