From the Lawrence Daily World for Dec. 19, 1906: “Enthusiasm is high about Lawrence getting a farm machinery producer that will entail an investment here of more than half a million dollars. There already is a factory in Ohio like the one hoped for here, which would turn out all manner of major farm equipment and generate a huge payroll. :Examinations for the Rhodes Scholarships at Oxford, England, will be held at the university here Jan. 17 and 18. Anyone age 19 to 25 is eligible to participate providing the candidate has at least two years of college. : Many community and university leaders met last night to discuss KU’s needs and how to best meet them. Many major projects are needed along with the usual financing for faculty and staff and upkeep. Many think a state appropriation of at least a million dollars is sensible.”
