Fleeing suspect breaks down family door

December 19, 2006

A Lawrence man woke up to the sounds of flying wood chips and a struggle inside his living room about 2 a.m. today.

The man, Sam Hunsaker, said a 30-year-old man broke down his door in an attempt to elude police. Police records show they responded to a pedestrian check in the 3000 block of University Drive about 2 a.m.

"My adrenaline was just going," Hunsaker said. "It was very surreal."

The police returned to the home shortly after taking the man into custody and found several bags of what they told Hunsaker were psychedelic mushrooms on and near a pile of baby's clothes, Hunsaker said.

Hunsaker was at home with his wife, daughter, son-in-law and two grandkids when the incident occurred.

I expect Marion and others to tll us how the homeowner should have had a stronger door (although they aren't blaming the victim).

Or he will enlighten us on self defense and defense of a dwelling in Kansas.

Or how he could have shot the intruder as long as his body falls on the inside of the dwelling...............

imagine, with all the headline typos: "Fleaing suspect ..." just itchin' to see that one.

no Marioni post yet? Wow, he must be out squiring the ladies or gunning down a burglar...he leads a very exciting life you know ... in his own mind.

What.. No police bashing for chasing a suspect on foot causing him to run into a family's house and drop his 'shrooms on the baby's clothing. Must have been the police department's fault, right?

I'm done with the sarcasm... Congrats LPD for a job well done.

Imagining a defence lawyer saying that no one saw his client carring the mashrooms, that they where on the floor before he got there.

What do flying wood chips sound like?

sublime 11 years ago

They should have let Hunsaker keep the shrooms for all his trouble.

Where is bd tonight? I miss his, "This was private property and the police can't search on private property, I hope he gets an attorney ...." rant.

wasn't Sam Hunsacker the same fellow in the paper many months ago because his beloved daughter was taken in, or taken over, by a cult?

if so: Mr. Hunsacker, still praying for your daughter. kinda funny how in space and time sometimes it seems like it all happens to a few of us, and all at once. hang in there.

Rudy is beautiful. I had a coyote-Sheltie cross years ago. Probably the sweetest and smartest dog I have had and I love them all. Fun pix.
