From the Lawrence Daily World for Dec. 17, 1906: “The chancellor of KU has called an important meeting for tonight, asking university and city leaders to meet and discuss planning for the future of the school and the community. Many important issues are on the agenda. : This is the season for the so-called calendar fiends, who go around trying to load down merchants with 1907 calendars to give to their customers. : Children’s letters to Santa Claus are coming into the Daily World office and will regularly be published so Santa can read them and prepare for his Christmas activities.”
