James Harrington of Liberal has resigned from the Kansas Wildlife and Parks Commission. Harrington had served on the commission since 2001, and was appointed chair by Gov. Kathleen Sebelius last July.

An orthopedic surgeon, Harrington has been named chair of the orthopedics department at the Oklahoma State University Med Center in Tulsa.

Harrington will be replaced as chair by commissioner Kelly Johnston, a Wichita attorney. Johnston was appointed by Gov. Sebelius in 2003.
