K-State women rout Broncos

? Marlies Gipson tied a career high with 18 points to lead Kansas State to a 76-52 victory over Santa Clara on Friday night.

Danielle Zanotti added a career-high 11 points on 4-of-4 shooting for the Wildcats (9-1), who won their sixth straight. Claire Coggins added 13 points and Shalee Lehning had nine points, eight assists and seven rebounds.

Ashley Gonnerman scored 13 points to lead Santa Clara (6-5), which shot only 33 percent from the field and was outscored 42-28 in the paint. Kasey Monteith added 10 points for the Broncos.

Kansas State hit 10 of its first 12 shots and opened a 23-14 lead just under eight minutes into the game, but the Broncos stayed within 38-28 at halftime.

But then Kansas State went on an 11-2 run early in the second half to pull away.
