The deadline for paying at least half of Douglas County real estate and personal property taxes is Dec. 20.

Personal property includes boats, mobile homes and business inventory.

If the first half of the taxes are not paid by Wednesday then full payment automatically becomes due. The first half can be paid after Wednesday, but there will be penalty and interest. The second half of the taxes are due May 10.

All three locations of the Douglas County Treasurer’s Office will close at 3 p.m. Dec. 29 for inventory, Treasurer Paula Gilchrist said.
