Veritas boys thumped by St. Mary’s, 53-37

? St. Mary’s Academy raced to a 15-point first-quarter lead and held on for a 53-37 high school boys basketball victory Tuesday night over Veritas Christian.

Micah Barclay led Veritas with 20 points, and Michael Kay added seven points.

“There were times when we played really well,” Doug Bennett said. “But we’re not playing consistent enough. Our shooting from the field continues to hurt us. But our guys showed a lot of heart. We made a little bit of a run midway through the third quarter, but we just couldn’t overcome the deficit.”

Veritas (0-3) will entertain Wichita Christian on Friday.
