From the Lawrence Daily World for Dec. 13, 1906: “Editor William Allen White of Emporia heartily endorses our W.R. Stubbs for U.S. senator and said the entry of an honest and capable man such as Stubbs in the race is good for Kansas and the country. : The fixing of East Quincy Street should not be delayed one more day. Where the work has been begun but not finished, something should be done to smooth up the roadway so it will be possible for the Kaw bottom farmers to haul heavy loads into town without trouble.”
