Dave Mattern, a financial consultant with the Lawrence office of A.G. Edwards & Sons Inc., has earned the designation of Executive Planning Consultant after completing a training course offered jointly by A.G. Edwards and the College for Financial Planning.

Mattern completed 135 hours of study, which covered investment strategies concerning concentrated positions in a particular stock, stock options, restricted stock and taxation issues. Also required were an additional five hours of courses covering the tools and techniques available through A.G. Edwards to address such issues.

Consultants with the designation have in-depth knowledge of financial planning processes, and are especially well-equipped to handle complex needs of the firm’s executive clients, said Jeff Ingles, branch manager for the Lawrence office.

Mattern has been working with A.G. Edwards since 2001.
