Mount Union, Wisconsin-Whitewater reach Division III final
Alliance, Ohio ? Nate Kmic ran for a career-high 371 yards and three touchdowns to lead defending champion Mount Union to a 26-14 victory over St. John Fisher in the NCAA Division III semifinals Saturday.
The Purple Raiders (14-0), seeking their ninth national title in 14 years, will face Wisconsin-Whitewater next Saturday in the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl in Salem, Va., in a rematch of the 2005 championship game.
Mount Union beat Whitwater, 35-28, last year in the title game. Whitewater advanced Saturday with a 44-7 victory over Wesley.
In Division I-AA, defending champion Appalachian State beat Youngstown State 49-24 to advance to the title game Friday night against Massachusetts in Chattanooga, Tenn.
The Minutemen beat Montana, 19-17, on Friday night in the other semifinal.
Today in the Division II semifinals, Bloomsburg will be at Northwest Missouri State, and Delta State will play at Grand Valley State.
In the NAIA championship, St. Francis of Indiana will face Sioux Falls next Saturday in Hardin County, Tenn. They advanced last week.
Wis.-Whitewater 44, Wesley 7
Whitewater, Wis. – Justin Jacobs threw five touchdown passes – three to Derek Stanley – for Wisconsin-Whitewater (14-0). Jacobs was 9-of-19 for 151 yards.
Brady Pittz led the Warhawks in rushing with 97 yards, including a 2-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Chris Warrick threw a 5-yard pass to Jason Schatz with 2:19 left for Wesley (13-1).

Appalachian State 49, Youngstown State 24
Boone, N.C. – Armanti Edwards ran for 110 yards and three touchdowns and threw for another score for defending national champion Appalachian State. Kevin Richardson rushed for 145 yards and two touchdowns as the Mountaineers won their 13th straight game and advanced to face Massachusetts on Friday night in Chattanooga.
