Markets post gains
Wall Street ended an erratic week with a moderate advance Friday.
The Dow Jones industrial average was up 29.08, or 0.24 percent, at 12,307.49. The Standard & Poor’s 500 index was up 2.55, or 0.18 percent, at 1,409.84, and the Nasdaq composite index was up 9.67, or 0.4 percent, at 2,437.36.
This week, the Dow rose 0.93 percent, the Nasdaq gained 1 percent, and the S&P 500 added 0.94 percent. All three also are up for the year: the Dow, 14.84 percent, the Nasdaq, 10.52 percent, and the S&P, 12.94 percent.
Light, sweet crude fell 46 cents Friday to $62.03 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Bonds also fell Friday, with the yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note rising to 4.55 percent from 4.49 percent late Thursday.
