State-run universities could not ban student groups from using campus facilities for religious purposes and study, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled with an 8-1 vote.

The murder trial involving a 23-year-old Topeka woman would not be moved from Douglas County, District Judge James Paddock ruled. The victim had been Terry Brown, a 25-year-old Topeka woman killed in rural Douglas County.
