From the Lawrence Daily World for Dec. 5, 1906: “The state auditor’s report indicates $740,000 is due for Kansas University but a movement has been started to make that a far bigger amount because of local needs. Chancellor Strong says the regents have been too modest in their requests for KU and sentiment is growing to make the university here one of the largest and best schools in the West.”
