Tax refunds
Federal: The IRS says it is holding 535 tax-refund checks that were returned as undeliverable. See the full list of Kansans owed money – broken down by county – at www.ljworld.com. You also can check your individual status by going to www.irs.gov, and clicking on the “Where’s My Refund?” link.
State: The Kansas Department of Revenue says it has up to 2,300 refund checks awaiting proper delivery. If you haven’t received your refund, check its status at https://www.kdor.org/refundstatus, or call the department’s automated line at (800) 894-0318. Detailed questions also may be directed to the department’s customer relations line, (785) 368-8222.
Unclaimed property
Proceeds from inactive savings and checking accounts, uncashed checks, stock shares and bonds, dividend checks, insurance proceeds, mineral royalties, and utility deposits – along with physical property from safe deposit boxes – are being held by the Kansas State Treasurer’s Office.
