About 75 Cub Scouts from various packs in the Pelathe District attended an Astronomy Belt Loop program Nov. 17 at Kansas University’s Malott Hall.

Host of the event was the Astronomy Associates of Lawrence.

The program was conducted by Rick Heschmeyer, a Cub Scout leader, and consisted of hands-on activities followed by telescope observations on the lawn. All scouts attending earned their Astronomy Belt Loop.

The scouts were joined by about 100 parents, leaders and siblings.
