Robbery suspect turns himself in

A 20-year-old Lawrence man wanted in the armed robbery of a Presto Convenience Store turned himself in Tuesday, Lawrence Police said.

Darnell Thomas turned himself in about 10:40 a.m. Tuesday at the police department’s detectives division, 4820 Bob Billings Parkway, and was arrested for two counts of aggravated robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery.

He’s the second person arrested in the robbery, which happened about 9 p.m. Thursday at the convenience store, 2330 Iowa. An anonymous call to the Crime Stoppers hot line shortly after the robbery led police to arrest Marcus J. Bell, 20, Lawrence, who they suspect was the lookout man.
